Freelancing gives you Freedom.

And most importantly, you can work from wherever you want, as long as your work is not getting affected.

That means Freelancing comes with a choice.

I go my first project after 3 months I decided to become a freelancer. It was a $120 website development project with huge overhead.

Here is what you will be discovering

  • How to Find your first (and next client), even when you have no idea of marketing.

Cool!

Real Meaning of Freelancing

I know, you might say, Himanshu! I don't need to know what freelancing is. But let me tell you, putting your focus on the next few lines will be worth it. It will take you ahead of what other people know

Most people think Freelancing is simply by working for other people on a contract basis.

You find clients or customers who will pay you in exchange for your services.

Most people charge for their services on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Also, some of the freelancers charge per job basis.

That means, you can make $20-$1000 per hour or you can also make $300-$30,000 per job.

The best part is, once you start working on a freelance project on the Internet, you can live anywhere in the world. The term for such people is now popular as Digital Nomad.

Even though finding quality projects is NOT easy, but once you understand the strategy I have discussed below, you will find it easy to get 5-10 high paying projects every week.

Well! It's right. But it's just the half picture of freelancing.

Who is a Freelancer, then?

Unlike most people, I want you to think freelancing as a "Value business".

As a freelancer, you are saving thousands of potential dollars for your client.

Imagine! if someone hires an employee.

They have to pay him even when he is not working. So, you might be charging $90 per hour. But at the same time, you are saving more money than hiring a $30 per hour employee.

Because now you are not an employee anymore. You run a business that runs on your knowledge. AKA Expertise.

So, in nutshell, freelancing is a business of providing highly specific service provided to a specific segment of the market.

As a Freelancer, you are the person who is working on a contract basis with the other party on a specific project.

First Step to Freelancing

Here comes the part which most people never bother to read and as a result, they fail. Before you even think about becoming a freelancer, you need to get a freelancing mindset.

You Need to Get the Right Freelancing Mindset

The freelancing realm changes fast. Just like anything else in the world, including a "so-called secure job", freelancing skills demand open-minded, active learners.

There are many skills which were very popular a decade ago but now nobody needs them anymore. The key to success is to keep learning.

Step 1: Build a Freelancing Mindset

It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you don't give up

Step 2: Find Your Freelancing Niche

The Only Way to Do More is By Doing What You Really Love

My favourite way to find a niche is IKIGAI.

There is a Japanese concept that was discovered hundreds of years ago. People of this country used it again and again to live a happy life. This is a combination of four questions you should first ask before you start a new project.

For example, you want to become a freelance marketing consultant, or freelance copywriter, here is you may want to start.

  • Q1. Is this something I really love
  •  Q2. Am I good at it?
  •  Q3. Do people really need what I am offering?
  •  Q4. Can I get paid for what I am providing?

So, in our example or freelance copywriting, let's say, you are passionate about writing. You might also have some experience in blog writing or content creation.

So, the answer to your first question should be YES.

Now while answering the second question, you may also like to think from a creative angle. Even if you are not good at something, you will eventually become better when you will work on it.

So, here we are at the third question. Do people really need what you have to offer? Answering this question is important as otherwise, you will have something from the moon which is of no use for people on earth.

You want to find something which people are already looking for.

So, as a copywriter, I would always find the people Who can PAY ME for my services.

So, third and fourth questions are much connected to a Freelancer. In other cases, the scenario might be different. I won't talk about it.

Tip: One good way to start finding your niche is brain dumping everything coming in your mind.

All your hobbies, skills, expertise and else. Then narrow it down to that one thing you are most comfortable with. That means something you can work on it for long enough.

Find an Urgent Problem to Solve

Once you become clear on your niche, the next thing you need to develop is the skill related to an urgent problem to solve.

Now trust me on this. You don't want to follow Social media gurus sharing "random" tricks and telling you to learn "whatever marketing".

You must do your market research and come up with a small problem in that segment.

Here is an example.

So, let's say your passion is writing. Now, to make sure that it works for you, find people who are looking for freelance copywriters.

They can be Other Bloggers, Marketing Companies, New Startups and also consultants. Now, instead of being a generality, you have become a specialized person.

This is what people are looking for.

An expert in a particular skill.

When it comes to freelancing skills, the sky is the limit. There are hundreds of services you can offer. I did my own research and realized not all the skills are equally paying.

Some skills like graphic designing are easy to get and you can make $10 per project.

But some skills like Learning to Make sales funnel are a little tricky to learn but once you master, you can easily make $1000 per project. So, to make $10,000 a month, you only need to find 10 projects per month.

Step 4: Find the Right Clients for Your Service

3 Strategies to Get Clients for Your Freelancing Service

There are tons of ways to find quality customers for your business. I say quality because, in my experience, there are many scammers I met along the way.

So, here are the best ideas to execute for you.

Get Clients One to One

While many gurus are sharing ways to find projects through Facebook, one of the powerful ways is still through the one-to-one meetings. Now here is the reason for it.

There is not a big competition when it comes to meeting offline. And as you will meet your potential clients face to face, you will have better chances to build deeper relationships with them which is critical for a good business.

Reverse Value Method

To understand the RVM or Reverse value method, you need to understand how our mind works. Would you mind if I give you a free masterclass for free?

No, right? Who doesn't want it? We love free gifts and it is good for everyone.

So, before you ask for money, you can offer something for free. Of course, not all the people will value your time, but people who do and who are the right customers will respect it.

Reverse value is a powerful method to win clients' trust.

So, how do you need to implement it to win the projects?

Here is a simple way to do it. With the help of Thrive Themes, you can create free courses you can offer for free to your potential clients.

By the way, you may like to join my FREE masterclass as well where I discuss the whole strategy behind this method. Powerful stuff I learned in the last four years.

You can invite people for your free course from Facebook, LinkedIn and even by creating YouTube videos.

Referral Method

Most of the top freelancers I met were using referrals to close deals. It is the easiest and it works amazingly well when you learn copywriting and communication skills.

Here is the free book you can start reading on Copywriting.

Here is the step by step guide for use referrals for finding new projects

First, go and check out some Facebook groups or LinkedIn contacts to find some similar projects.

Second, work for free in exchange for a good testimonial and referrals.

Make sure to not take a big project to work for free. Work for free to solve a small problem. Here is one example.

Let's say you are a Facebook Ads expert and looking for advertisers who are struggling with their campaigns. One important problem you can solve is by helping them create good creatives.

You can use Canva which is a free app to create beautiful graphics and offer for Free. The next step is to tell them what else you can do if you are given the chance.

Most people will be more than happy to work with you as they will understand your in-depth knowledge of the subject.

Here is the Secret Weapon of Wealthy Freelancers

The method which you are about to learn is known to very few people. To understand what it is, I want you to imagine a room full of plumbers. There is one person teaching and 30 are listening.

If you need someone to hire for your new home, which one will you pick? One who is teaching or anyone from the students?

In most cases, people prefer someone who is teaching. The reason why is, because he teaches. Customers perceive teachers as experts. This is the secret of growing many folds as a freelancer. Start teaching what you know.

You can Join this free training to become a high-paying creator.

The Next Step

There are two types of people who read my blogs. People who go to another blog and keep learning stuff. They learn and learn but never implement. And there are people who quickly implement what they learn.

At this point, you have learned many things that most people don't know. Why don't you join the training and get your blueprint to becoming a wealthy freelancer? The method to do it is by becoming a creator. Standing apart from the crowd.

Let me know in the comments what is the best thing you learned in this post.
