Now when you know the reason to create your youtube channel, let's dive into all the steps included in the process, starting with how to find a profitable topic idea.
How to find a Profitable YouTube Channel Topic
This might be the hardest part of starting on YouTube and blogging. Hardest because I have seen 90% of people fail to recognize it in the beginning. As a result, they don't get enough subscribers to monetize or they don't make enough money even after having thousands of people follow them.
It's not enough to say "I will make a channel about Gardening or Writing". Here is where to start...
There are two types of people that you want to focus upon (if you want to make money with YouTube videos).
- Those who "Can" spend Money online.
- Those who are "Willing" to spend money for something.
YouTube's algorithms are super advanced to understand who has money and who has not. In fact, it also knows who is "willing to spend" and who is not.
So, you need to keep this in your mind while creating your channel and uploading videos.
It's time to think about those who are going to watch your videos. (I will talk about how to find them in the upcoming chapters).
YouTube Channel Topic Strategy
Now you should have a little bit of idea of audience, so let's talk about topics.
To come up with a channel topic, you need to ask the following four questions to yourself with honesty:
- What do I enjoy (or in other words what I love talking about in everyday life).
- What am I good at. (or in other words what skills or experience do I already have)
- What the world is looking for currently (or what people really want)
- What people are willing to spend for (or what people are already watching)
The best thing to do is to come up with at least 10 things at first and then narrow it down to 2-3 things. And begin with ONE thing. Start with one thing without overthinking because you can fix anything later if you will listen to the next thing...
It leads us to the Next Thing:
Strategy to pick the Best Channel Name
There are two ways to pick a channel name
First: by coming up with the cool trendy name: let's say PewDiPie or "Market Ninja"
Second: Starting with Your Own Name.
I recommend picking up your own name and NOT anything else. This way, people will connect with you and not "the thing".
Later when you will learn and change your content slightly, you will have freedom to change.
This is the way we will keep it simple without thinking too much. And yes! you can change the channel name at any point of time so again, this is not the thing to spend too much time upon.
How to Create Your Own YouTube Channel - Step by Step
So, you should have your channel Idea ready and a name ready at this moment. Great! so here is the step by step guide to create your YouTube channel.
Step 1: Go to YouTube.com and click on your profile picture (sign in if you haven't done yet.
Step 2: Click on Create Channel as shown in the picture below.
Step 3: Choose what type of channel you want to create. I recommend going for the second option. However, use your own name when asked in the next step.
Step 4: Select your channel name. You can change it later after a while.
Step 5: Upload your YouTube profile picture
Step 6: Add description for your YouTube channel. Make sure to use keywords related to your business in the description box. For example, if your channel is about Yoga, use words like meditation, Indian philosophy, healing etc depending on your topic.
Step 7: Add links to your website and other social media channels. This way, more people can connect with you on multiple platforms. Also, here add a link to your email subscription or lead magnet.
Step 8: Upload your first ever video as shown in the picture below.
YouTube offers a high end creator dashboard that is known as YouTube studio. Here you can manage comments, see analytics and manage your entire channel.
Also, you can customize your channel for subscribers and non-subscribers from the dashboard. On the left side, you can find all the creator links as shown below.

Collect Leads and Sell products profitably with Clickfunnels
One big reason entrepreneurs quit too early on YouTube is to not able to understand how to monetize.
In fact, in first months your channel will not make money through ads...
But even then, you can generate leads with a Lead Funnel. You can get a Clickfunnels account and launch any sales funnel or lead funnel and start monetizing your Channel.
If you are a part of WordPress Sprint, you can also do the same through WordPress. Or otherwise, you can get a free Clickfunnels trial and explore how to make wildly profitable sales funnels.
Make money with your YouTube channel (even with 100 subscribers)
At this moment, you have your channel and you might have uploaded your video as well. You don't need to wait for another year before you start making money from YouTube. However, it is better to build certain number of audience and start getting descent number of views before you promote anything.
Note that YouTube asks for 4000 watch-hours (how many hours of videos people have watched on your channel) and at least 1000 subscribers to start showing advertisement. But this is not the only way. In fact, there are far better ways than Google Adsense that can help you make more money.
Here are my top 3:
Affiliate marketing is the most popular monetization system. Once you start gaining attention, you can put affiliate links in the video description. When you mention a useful product in the video and people use your link to buy the product, you will get the commission.

Often times, company approach you for partnership by its own. Here is one recent email that I received from one company
However, be careful of these messages and do the background check before making any commitments and even responding to such queries.
When your channel is new, you won't receive many queries. However, more companies will start approaching you once you will grow your audience. So keep doing the work.
