Privacy Policy
This policy covers withhimanshu.com, the personal site of Himanshu Bisht. It explains what the site collects, why, who processes it, and how you can see or delete it. Last updated 16 October 2026.
The short version
- You can read everything here without an account.
- The site stores your email address only if you subscribe to The Letter or leave a comment, and it never shows your email to anyone.
- Google Analytics counts visits. No advertising or social media tracking pixels run on this site.
- You can ask for your data to be deleted at any time.
Reading the site
The site runs on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical details of every request, such as your IP address, browser and the page you asked for. You can read how Cloudflare handles this in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Google Analytics measures which pages people read, how they arrived and roughly where they are. It sets cookies in your browser to do this. Google’s own policy explains how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Subscribing to The Letter
When you subscribe, the site stores your email address, the form and page you used, the country your connection comes from, and the date. Your address is then passed to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which sends the confirmation email and the newsletter itself. Kit’s privacy policy covers how it stores and sends email.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the emails straight away, and you can also ask for your address to be deleted from both the site and Kit.
Leaving a comment
A comment stores your name, email address, comment and the date. Your name and comment appear on the page once approved; your email never does. It is used only to recognise returning commenters, so their next comment does not wait for approval, and to contact you about your comment if needed.
To stop spam, the site keeps a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address (a salted hash, which cannot be turned back into the address) for a short-term limit on how many comments one visitor can post. Comments imported from the old version of this site keep the name and date they were published with.
Spam protection
The comment and signup forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser for that check only and does not use them for advertising. Cloudflare’s privacy policy, linked above, applies.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, explained on the affiliate disclosure page. When you click one, the site records which link was clicked, the page you clicked it on and your country, with no IP address or anything else that identifies you. The company you land on may set its own cookies to credit the referral; its own privacy policy covers that.
Videos
YouTube videos load only when you click play. Until then the page shows a still image, and nothing from YouTube runs. Once you press play, the video comes from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain, and Google’s policy applies.
Cookies
- Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits, as described above.
- Affiliate partners may set cookies after you click through to their sites.
- The site itself sets no cookies for readers. The admin area uses a sign-in cookie for the site owner only.
Who your data is shared with
Your data is never sold. It is shared only with the services named on this page, each for the purpose described: Cloudflare (hosting, security and spam protection), Kit (email) and Google (analytics).
How long data is kept
Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe and ask for deletion. Comments stay with the article they belong to until you ask for removal. The scrambled IP values used for spam limits only matter for a few minutes and hold nothing that identifies you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. To make a request, reply to any issue of The Letter, or mention it in a comment without sharing personal details, and you will get a reply by email.
Changes to this policy
When the way this site handles data changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top shows the latest update.
