Virlo vs Exolyt: Which Is Worth Your Money in 2026?

Picking between Virlo or Exolyt is not really a feature fight. Both are well known short-form video intelligence tools for TikTok. It is a bet on how you actually work, and the wrong bet costs you a few hundred dollars a month for the next year. So I spent real time inside both, the way you would right before handing over a card, and I want to save you that part.

For most creators and small-to-mid agencies, Virlo is the one I would pay for. It tracks TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, it helps you turn what is trending into actual content, and it starts at $49 a month. Exolyt is the better tool if you live entirely on TikTok, need enterprise-grade social listening, and have the budget that comes with it. Two good tools. Very different buyers.

If you landed here while hunting for an honest Exolyt review or a cheaper Exolyt alternative, you are in the right place too, because that comparison is exactly what this comes down to.

How I tested these analytics tools

I ran Virlo and Exolyt for two weeks on the same job: tracking a niche I actually work in, pulling the top-performing videos, and trying to get from raw data to a content idea I could use.

I gave each the same questions:

  • What is breaking out in this niche right now.
  • Who is driving it.
  • What hooks are working.

Then I analysed them on the part that matters, which is how fast each one got me to something I could act on, not just a prettier dashboard. It makes sense since you are looking at a reasonable ROI when you are investing in a research software.

The scores tell the story the rest of this article explains. Exolyt is deeper on pure TikTok analysis. Virlo is broader, faster to act on, and far cheaper. Now let me show you what each one feels like to use.

What Virlo actually is

Virlo is kinda like Google for short form video research and after two weeks I think that is close to right… well, almost.

You point it at a niche, a competitor, or a keyword, and it pulls what is breaking out across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts in real time. Then it does something most tools will not. It helps you make the next thing.

When I searched my niche, Virlo’s Outlier Detection flagged videos massively beating their own baseline, across all three platforms, in one view. I dropped the winners into the Content Studio and had a usable script draft in the same session. Custom Niches sat in the background scraping my market around the clock, and there is an API and an MCP server if you want to wire it into an AI agent or an automation flow. Virlo now calls its research tool Content Research Agents.

Virlo is built for people who act on trends, not just admire them in a dashboard.

What Exolyt actually is

Exolyt is a bit older analytics software, and I want to be fair about that. It is a TikTok-only platform built for brands and agencies running serious operations on that one channel.

Where it shone in my testing was depth of answers. It offered a full 360 view of any account, real sentiment analysis (on the Advanced plan), hashtag and sound intelligence, competitor ad tracking, and influencer discovery that was genuinely strong.

The interface was clean and quick, and you can feel it has been refined over years with enterprise customers giving notes. When I pulled an account report, Exolyt simply told me more about that one TikTok profile than Virlo did.

To genuinely put out there, Exolyt is a great fit for TikTok-dependent businesses and creators. While it did lack the cross-platform abilities and was a little more expensive than Virlo for just one platform, I can see some business will find it useful. Especially, if you want to keep active track of your TikTok page.

My overall thought was the analogy I think often about: It’s not the gun but the man behind the gun

It’s really easy to get consumed by the idea of choosing a software and expecting it to do more than what you can do. Both tools if used correctly will do a fantastic job of helping you discover new markets.

Where Exolyt wins

Let me give Exolyt its rounds first, because it earns them and because you deserve the honest case for the tool I am not recommending to most of you.

On pure TikTok analytics, Exolyt goes deeper. Its sentiment analysis (on Advanced) and account-level reporting are more thorough than Virlo’s, which leans toward discovery and speed over exhaustive reporting. Exolyt influencer discovery and campaign tracking are also more developed, so if you run large creator campaigns and need to vet dozens of accounts with audience detail, that is Exolyt’s home turf.

And for a true enterprise team whose entire world is TikTok, the price probably would not matter. When a tool saves an analyst days a month, $400 is a rounding error. I would not talk that team out of Exolyt. It is a serious, well-made product for a specific kind of buyer.

Where Virlo wins

Here is why Virlo is the one I reach for, and the one I would put in front of nearly every creator and lean agency I know.

First, it sees three platforms, not one.

Trends rarely stay put. Something pops on TikTok and lands on Reels and Shorts within days, and a tool that only watches TikTok leaves you half blind to your own market. For anyone posting cross-platform, this single difference is the one that mattered most in my testing. On Reels, trend timing works alongside Instagram SEO, since many viewers now find Reels through search.

Second, Virlo does not stop at the insight. Think like this: Exolyt told me what happened but Virlo can help you make what happens next, through the Content Studio and Media Generation. I went from “this hook is working” to a drafted script without leaving the tab. Exolyt doesn’t have that option, because it plays in a different territory altogether.

Third, and you knew this was coming, the price is not close. More on that in a second, because it deserves its own section.

There is one more thing I liked that rarely shows up in these comparisons. Virlo has an API and an MCP server, so you can plug it into an AI agent and let it run research while you sleep. Exolyt offers no self-serve API on its public plans.

The honest pros and cons

No tool is all upside. And tbh, you might not be able to use all the features of any tool.

Virlo, the good:

  • Covers TikTok, Reels, and Shorts in one place
  • Turns trend data into scripts, briefs, and AI video
  • Real-time outlier detection
  • Starts at $49, with an API and MCP for automation

Virlo, the trade-offs:

  • Its deep-reporting and sentiment analysis are lighter than Exolyt’s
  • It is a newer product, still adding to its historical data depth
  • The credit-based usage can add up if you run heavy research every day
  • There is a lot packed in, so it takes an afternoon to learn what each module does

Exolyt, the good:

  • The deepest pure-TikTok analytics in this matchup
  • Strong sentiment analysis (Advanced plan) and influencer discovery
  • Polished, fast, enterprise-grade interface
  • A genuinely useful free Basic plan to start

Exolyt, the trade-offs:

  • TikTok only, no Reels or Shorts
  • The real power sits behind plans in the hundreds a month
  • No content creation, it reports but does not help you make
  • No self-serve API on its public plans

If you are keeping score, Virlo’s cons are mostly about depth and a learning curve. Exolyt’s cons are about reach and price. Which set you can live with is basically the whole decision.

Virlo and Exolyt pricing in 2026

Virlo runs $49 a month for the Starter plan (2,000 credits, or $34 a month billed yearly), $199 for Pro (12,000 credits and team seats) and from $499 for Enterprise (20,000 credits), per its pricing page. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that bills automatically after day 7 unless you cancel.

It also has an MCP server and a pay-as-you-go API, so you can connect Virlo to an AI assistant or your own workflow.

Exolyt has a free Basic plan that is genuinely useful for a look around. After that, the price jumps.

Essentials runs about $400 a month, or closer to $330 a month if you pay annually, and the Advanced plan lands near $950 a month, with custom enterprise pricing above that. Exolyt shows prices in local currency, so they vary by region.

So the honest framing on Exolyt pricing is this. It is fair for the enterprise team Exolyt was built for, and out of reach for the creators and small agencies who make up most of this market. Virlo priced itself for the people Exolyt skips. That single gap, $49 against $400, is probably the big gap here.

Exolyt alternatives worth knowing

Virlo and Exolyt are not the only two players, and if you are shopping Exolyt alternatives broadly, two others are worth a look. (even if I do recommend Virlo if you are ready to give it a try)

Shortimize tracks unlimited accounts across TikTok, Reels and Shorts for agencies running creator campaigns, from $99 a month. Socialinsider is another close spirited tool to Virlo on coverage, tracking TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube together, and it starts near $99 a month, though it is built more for reporting than for turning trends into content.

Who should pick which

You can probably feel where you land already, but let me make it clean.

Pick Virlo if you post across TikTok, Reels or Shorts, want to turn trends into content and not just charts, run a creator business or lean agency, or care about price and automation.

You can choose Exolyt if you operate only on TikTok, if you need enterprise-grade social listening and sentiment, if you run large influencer campaigns that demand deep vetting, and if your budget can carry a tool in the high hundreds a month. If that is you, it is a strong choice and I would not argue.

My personal opinion for Virlo and Exolyt

After two weeks in both, Virlo is the one I keep open and the one I recommend to the people I actually talk to, which is creators and operators building lean.

Exolyt is the better enterprise TikTok instrument, and I would say so to a brand with that exact need without blinking. I noticed that it was not for me, but that doesn’t mean it’s not for you either. Maybe it is…

For most of you, though, it is more tool than you need at more cost than you should pay.

Virlo has its own weak spot. In a very narrow niche, Virlo’s trend research can show inconsistent freshness, so it pays off best when you post short-form video at least three times a week.

Frequently asked questions

Is Virlo better than Exolyt?

For most creators and small-to-mid agencies, yes, because Virlo covers TikTok, Reels and Shorts, helps you create content from the data, and costs far less. Exolyt is better for enterprise teams that work only on TikTok and need deep social listening.

What is the main difference between Virlo and Exolyt?

Coverage and purpose. Exolyt is a TikTok-only analytics and social listening tool. Virlo is a cross-platform trend tool that also helps you turn what you find into scripts, briefs and video.

How much do Virlo and Exolyt cost?

Virlo starts at $49 a month, Pro costs $199 and Enterprise starts at $499. Exolyt has a free plan, then Essentials at about $400 a month and Advanced near $950.

Is Exolyt free?

Exolyt has a free Basic plan with one tracked account and 7 days of history. Social listening, more accounts and longer history need its paid plans, which start at about $400 a month.

Does Virlo have a free trial?

Yes. Every Virlo plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You enter a card at signup, and billing starts automatically after day 7 unless you cancel.

Is Exolyt worth it?

For an enterprise team that lives on TikTok and needs deep social listening, yes. For a creator or small agency, the price is hard to justify when cheaper, cross-platform tools exist.

Does Exolyt support Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts?

No. Exolyt focuses exclusively on TikTok. If you need Reels or Shorts data in the same tool, Virlo covers all three platforms.

What are the best Exolyt alternatives?

Virlo is the strongest for cross-platform creators and lean budgets. Shortimize suits agencies tracking creator campaigns, and Socialinsider covers multiple platforms for reporting.

Can Virlo or Exolyt create content, not just analyze it?

Virlo can. It drafts scripts and briefs from your trend data and generates short-form video with Sora 2 and Veo 3. Exolyt is an analytics and listening tool and does not create content.

So, which one gets your money?

It comes down to a simple split. If you work across platforms, want to turn trends into content, and care what you spend, Virlo is the smarter buy, and it is the one I use. If you live only on TikTok, need enterprise social listening, and have the budget for it, Exolyt is the stronger fit and worth every dollar to the right team.

For nearly everyone reading this, that points one way. You can start a Virlo trial and see what is breaking out in your niche during the 7-day trial.

And if you find something, I will love to hear about it.
